Overview

Provide hands-on system administration support as part of a team performing moderately complex system maintenance and operations support of VMWARE environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the health and stability of a large file system infrastructure; perform daily maintenance to ensure stability with minimal degradation of service.
  • Manage and troubleshoot Windows, Linux issues. Perform file system disaster recovery and data management.
  • Additional support required for services such as WEB, Netbackup application installation, and printing services.
  • Provide problem ticket resolution, utilizing a ServiceNow ticketing system, including file and database restores as required.
  • Provide general troubleshooting on the Windows systems, maintain data files, and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity and an optimum level performance.
  • Ensure all server documentation is current.
  • Oversees appropriate level software installations and upgrades and related software packages.
  • Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes. Analyzes capacity data and develops capacity plans for appropriate level enterprise-wide systems. Coordinates with appropriate management personnel in implementing changes.
  • Coordinate hardware maintenance and repairs with vendors. Participate in systems testing as required.

Qualifications

Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI w/ Poly Required

Certification: Active CompTIA Security+ required

 

Must meet contract level requirements for appropriate position. In addition, minimum of 4 years of experience with computer systems or networking

 

  • Experience working with computer hardware for installation and upgrades; and VMWare administration experience.
  • Experience working with file and system maintenance procedures, systems management frameworks, protocols and tools. Knowledge of virus scanning and virus response.
  • Thorough file server support and maintenance knowledge. Full understanding of file system directory structures and permissions.
  • Understanding of Internet support and security concepts.
  • Thorough system administration (policies and procedures) knowledge. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Team-oriented with a professional attitude and customer focus. Good communication and writing skills. Excellent customer relations are a must.
  • Knowledge of NetApps, Linux, and/or Blackberry administration is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Directory Services, File Services, WEB Services, and SOE/Engineering Services.
  • Thorough knowledge of ServiceNow ticketing system
  • Ability to script in the NT environment and modify scripts as necessary for automation and configuration mgt is a plus.
  • May be asked to participate in analyzing new hardware/software needs and to participate in Client requirements reviews and meetings pertaining to customer issues.
